Finding Your Creative Light: Adventures in Art and Friendship
17 September 2024
Navigating the ever-shifting landscape of creativity often feels like wandering through a maze. Just as the music industry’s ever-changing nature can be rather overwhelming, so too can the challenge of finding a space where our true selves can truly shine. It's in these moments of uncertainty that the right environment and people become crucial.
Back in Cape Town, my artistic journey was anchored by Saudiq, a dear friend and an incredible photographer and videographer. Our collaborations were a seamless dance of creativity, making it all the more difficult to leave that behind. I felt a noticeable void, a gap in my creative process that I couldn’t quite fill.
This week, I found a bit of that missing magic again. Teaming up with Kelsie, my dear friend, who seems to read my creative mind, and Elizabeth, whose friendship has become a cherished part of my life, brought back a sense of ease and confidence I had been missing. The photos we took together didn’t just capture moments—they radiated a renewed inner glow that reminded me of the confidence I felt with Saudiq. It’s amazing how being surrounded by the right people can make such a profound difference in our approach to our passions and ourselves.
Exploring Hamilton’s stunning murals during our photoshoot felt like a celebration of the local art scene. Each mural spoke volumes about the creativity and beauty that can brighten our days. Art, in all its forms, has this incredible power to comfort and connect us on a deeper level, especially when life feels overwhelming.
In these times of constant change, finding a circle that supports and uplifts you is more important than ever before. Whether you're navigating the pressures of social media or finding comfort in your creative work, having people who understand and inspire you can make all the difference. Choose your circle wisely, as the right people can help you shine your brightest.
So here’s to creating a community that lights up even the darkest days, to friendships that nurture our souls, and to the art that brings us together. Let’s build a circle so radiant that even the sun can’t overshadow it.
Until next time, keep the music alive and buzzing!
