From Vision to Video: My DIY Adventure with 'Maybe It's Me
15 March
What started as a simple idea quickly spiraled into one of the most exciting (and chaotic) experiences of my creative journey so far—filming my own music video for "Maybe it's Me."
I've always been a bit of a creative nut. I remember, as a child, I was always building, drawing, or writing something. I guess it was my form of escape. Eventually, I thought I would grow out of that creative "itch," but it stuck with me. In fact, I think the itch intensified over the years, especially during those periods when adult life didn’t allow me to access my creative spirit. Those were some dark times!
When the idea of creating my own music video by myself popped into my head, I just couldn't let it go! I always believed that to create something "professional," you needed an entire crew, but with all the technology at our fingertips, I could no longer use that as an excuse not to execute the ideas that plagued my thoughts and wouldn’t disappear until I allowed them to come to life. And I did it! With nothing but an iPhone, a whole lot of determination, and a little help from a good friend.
This DIY adventure reminded me of something important—there’s no "perfect" time or setup for chasing your dreams. You don’t need to wait for all the stars to align; sometimes, you just have to dive in and create, no matter what tools you have at your disposal. This whole experience, from vision to video, taught me to trust in my own creativity, even when the odds felt stacked against me.
My hope is that this little story of mine, and the adventurous turn it took, inspires you to take a leap of faith. Whatever dream you’re holding onto—go for it. Sometimes the outcome might be even more than you ever could have imagined.
Buzzing off for now—see you at the next note!
